Like the birds and
the bees, the grass and the trees,
we humans are simply another part
of the wonders of nature. Ayurveda
is based on the principle of utilizing
the laws of nature to promote health
and wellbeing.
The fascinating and
increasingly popular subject of Ayurveda
is steeped in thousands of years of
history. Originating in India, prior
to eventually spreading around the
globe, what we now see increasingly
offered in UK salons represents only
a very small segment of what is a
science stretching back into the depths
of time.
To quote from one of
the leading Ayurveda training centres in India,
“……..it is fair
to say that Ayurveda is a system that
helps maintain health in a person
by using the inherent principles of
nature to bring the individual back
into equilibrium with their true self.
In essence, Ayurveda has been in existence
since the beginning of time because
we have always been governed by nature's
laws.” Ayurveda is not so much
a treatment or therapy – Ayurveda
is a way of life.

Ayurveda - 'The science of life'
Whilst this intriguing
science is complex and far reaching, (very
much a matter of total lifestyle), many
of the ‘hands on’ treatments
such as Indian Head Massage, Foot Massage and Facial
Massage, can be offered independently with
excellent results.
The degree of such results
depends greatly on the ability and the mental
motivation of the Ayurvedic therapist – remember,
thousands of years of history and culture
are the bases of successful Ayurvedic therapy
– the therapists do not simply ‘give
the treatment’ – they are part
of the treatment. Professional training
is therefore a crucial element in the make-up
of the therapist and time spent deciding
where and with whom you train is invaluable.
For those wanting to maximise
on the potential of Ayurveda, The Goan Experience
(a British owned and managed company) now
offers Ayurvedic training courses in the paradise
holiday state of Goa. The courses
are designed to open your eyes to Ayurveda,
give you an insight into the culture and
history of the region and, last but not
least, combine your Ayurvedic training with an incredibly
relaxing and surprisingly inexpensive holiday
in ‘Paradise’.
